The Story Behind the Branch
Originally known as the Northside Branch and situated on Wells Street since 1919, the Little Turtle Branch underwent significant changes upon its acquisition by the library in 1972. Renamed in 1990 after the revered Miami leader Little Turtle (Mih-soh-heh-kee-nah-ah), the branch celebrates both cultural heritage and community service. With over 43,000 items available, the library supports educational pursuits through meeting rooms, study areas, and public technology access.
